Janie Barclay Photography
We always come back to the quote on the front page of our website by
Henri
Cartier-Bresson
"Photographers deal in moments that are continually vanishing, and when they
have vanished there is no contrivance on earth that can make them come back
again."
This is what Janie Barclay Photography is all about. We deal in moments and they
do vanish! We are continually looking for moments that capture the height of
emotion and those fleeting looks between people that say so much. They are so
easily missed and it takes great concentration and years of practice to be good
at this - its not a casual way of shooting, not a chance event.
At my last
count there were about 52 wedding photographers in Aberdeen, so we are in a very
crowded market. This really pushes us to be better all the time! We are
continually looking for ways to stand out from the crowd, to create something
unique and timeless for our brides. Part of being a successful wedding
photographer is keeping up with what is going on in the wedding business all
over Scotland. We like to attend different workshops to keep our ideas up to
date and we are always looking at the work of top wedding photographers across
the world. Recently we visited two of the most highly thought of wedding
photographers in the United Kingdom
Faye and Trevor Yerbury to attend their workshop. It was truly inspiring.
I am
very lucky to have David as my assistant. He is one of Scotland’s young up and
coming photographers. It’s wonderful for me to have such an enthusiast around,
someone who is always happy and cheerful and full of ideas and innovation. We
are continually bouncing ideas off each other each other and challenging each
other to do better. I know from past experience that it is important to work
with someone you trust and whose work you respect. I feel David and I have
built this up to a level that shows in our photography.
We have evolved a blend
of styles that really brings out the best in our wedding photography. Having
some formal posed shots is important. It’s often overlooked but I believe it
forms a strong core to our work. Inspirational moments, beautiful fine art
images and true expression of the moment are what we are continually seeking. As
wedding photographers we are testing our artistic skills and creativity all the
time. Only then can we provide a truly modern and unique service to our clients.
The albums we use are
Graphistudio Albums
from Italy and
they are of the highest quality. I would be delighted to show them to you in
your home or at many of the wedding exhibitions that we attend in and around
Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Central Scotland so please come and see us there. I
believe our work stands out and that we are set apart from the older more
traditional photographers around so make sure you check us out before you decide
on your photographer for your wedding day!
There are many wedding exhibitions in
Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire - we attend most of these so please come along and
say hi and see our amazing work!
