Emma and Shaun at Thainstone House Hotel

The 1st of July was Emma and Shaun’s big day. They chose to get married in Thainstone House Hotel. This is one of my favourite hotels in rural Aberdeenshire – a beautiful old Palladian Mansion situated between Aberdeen and Inverurie – full of charm and warmth and friendly, helpful staff. It’s history is interesting –  in the 18th Century, the Jacobites put Thainstone to torch. It’s owner James Wilson of Thainstone escaped the fire and fled to America where he later put his name to the American Declaration of Independence. In the 19th Century it was redesigned by Archibald Simpson, the architect who is responsible for reshaping much of the present day city of Aberdeen. So good choice Emma and Shaun!
The photographs speak for themselves – Emma looked absolutely beautiful and Shaun wasn’t bad either!

Emma and Shaun’s cake was made by Jenny at Cake Affair in Rothienorman near Inverurie. I loved the attention to detail in her two show jumpers on the top.  Emma and Shaun are two very talented  horse riders, thus the theme.

Her gorgeous dress was by Christina Rossi  and the beautiful orchid bouquet and flowers were by Floral Vision in Kintore.
